Programs in healthcare, nursing, business, computer science and cybersecurity, biotechnology, education, criminal justice, human services, and other fields prepare students for opportunities in the regional workforce.
The College’s workforce impact continues after graduation. As former students enter and advance in the workforce, their skills and earnings contribute to the regional economy. In Quincy College’s FY2014–15 Economic Impact Study, alumni represented the largest component of the College’s estimated economic contribution.
Expanding Access and Opportunity
Quincy College’s impact also begins before students enroll as traditional college students. The College’s Early College partnership with Quincy Public Schools served 304 students in Fall 2024, up from 112 dual-credit students reported in FY2014–15.
Online education has expanded access as well. In Fall 2024, online instruction accounted for more than half of credits generated, providing flexibility for students balancing education with work, family, and other responsibilities.
During Academic Year 2024–25, approximately $11.8 million in financial aid was awarded to Quincy College students, helping make higher education more accessible and affordable.
Investing in the Regional Economy
Quincy College is an employer and purchaser of goods and services in the regional economy. For FY2026, the College budgeted approximately $26.3 million in operating expenses, including $16.2 million in personnel expenses and $10.1 million in non-personnel expenses.
The College’s contribution extends beyond its own spending. Quincy College educates graduates for the workforce, provides opportunities to continue to four-year degrees, brings college courses to local high school students, and helps working adults gain new skills and credentials.
A comprehensive Economic Impact Study measures these contributions more broadly by examining College operations, student spending, alumni earnings, and the return on investment for students, taxpayers, and society.
FY2014–15 Economic Impact Study
Quincy College’s most recent comprehensive economic impact study was conducted using FY2014–15 data. At that time, the study estimated that the College generated $419.7 million in added regional income and supported 5,138 jobs. Alumni represented the largest component of that impact, generating an estimated $383.4 million in added income through the contributions of former Quincy College students working in the region.
Quincy College has changed considerably since that study. The College now offers bachelor’s degree programs, has expanded Early College and dual enrollment, offers new academic and workforce pathways, and provides more flexible and online learning options.
The FY2014–15 study remains an important historical benchmark of Quincy College’s economic contribution. The current data above provide a picture of the College today and its continuing role in education, workforce development, and the regional economy.
Quincy College creates a significant positive impact on the business community and generates a variety of benefits to its major stakeholder groups—students, taxpayers, and society. Using a two-pronged approach that involves an economic impact analysis and a benefits analysis, this study calculates the benefits to each of these groups. Results of the analysis reflect Fiscal Year (FY) 2014-15.
